Terms of Service

By creating an Outlayer account you agree to these terms.

1. What Outlayer does — and does not do

Outlayer reads your bank and card transaction history and identifies recurring charges. It flags duplicate tooling, charges nobody in your company can account for, and price increases between billing cycles.

Being specific about the limits, because they matter:

• We cannot cancel anything for you. Our access to your accounts is read-only. Cancelling a subscription is something you do with that vendor directly.
• We cannot tell you whether software is being used. Bank data shows what you pay for, not who logs in. Any judgement about whether a tool is worth keeping is yours.
• Detection is not guaranteed to be complete. We may miss charges, or flag something that is not a subscription. Check the results before acting.

2. Not financial advice

Outlayer is a reporting tool. We are not accountants, financial advisers, or tax professionals, and nothing in the product is financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice. Decisions about your spending are yours.

3. Your account

• You must be authorised to connect the financial accounts you connect.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One person per account, unless you are on a plan that includes additional seats.
• You must be at least 18 and using Outlayer for a business.

4. Plans and billing

• Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe.
• Paid plans include a 14-day free trial. Cancel during the trial and you are not charged.
• Cancel at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not pro-rate partial months.
• If a payment fails, paid features may be suspended until it is resolved.
• We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before changing prices.

Features described on the pricing page that are still being built are marked as such. If a feature you paid for is not available, contact us and we will refund you.

5. Acceptable use

Do not:

• connect accounts you are not authorised to access
• attempt to access another customer's data
• probe, scan, or attempt to breach the service
• resell or redistribute the service without our written agreement

We may suspend or close accounts that do any of these.

6. Third-party services

Outlayer depends on Plaid for bank connections, Stripe for payments, and other providers listed in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those connections is also subject to their terms. We are not responsible for their outages or errors.

7. Availability

We do not currently offer a uptime guarantee or service-level agreement. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you notice and a way to export your data.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Outlayer is provided as-is, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or savings you expected but did not get.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time. We can close yours for breach of these terms. On closure we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
